Where it came from
Glory of the Losers was conceived as a comprehensive retelling of the Mobile Suit Gundam Wing narrative, serialized in Gundam Ace starting in 2010. Authored by Katsuyuki Sumisawa, who served as the original head writer for the Gundam Wing anime, the project was intended to harmonize the disparate timelines of the television series and the Endless Waltz sequel while incorporating the updated mechanical designs created by Hajime Katoki.
The manga serves as a bridge for fans of the franchise, refining character motivations and integrating the Katoki-designed mobile suits—often referred to as 'EW versions'—into the primary canon. By revisiting these iconic designs, Sumisawa aimed to provide a definitive version of the story that satisfied long-time enthusiasts, ultimately receiving positive reception for its deeper exploration of the political intrigue and pilot psychology central to the series.
