Where it came from
Model-chan and Plain Manager is a manga series created by the artist Taneko, known for exploring the workplace dynamics and contrasting personalities of its titular leads. The series was developed within the contemporary shojo or josei tradition, focusing on the comedic and emotional friction between a high-profile, glamorous model and her understated, pragmatic manager.
The design of the series centers on the visual contrast between the two protagonists, utilizing Taneko's signature style to emphasize the disparity between the model's expressive, aesthetic-focused world and the manager's grounded, utilitarian perspective. Upon its release, the series found a niche audience who appreciated its character-driven approach to the fashion industry, often being cited for its lighthearted take on the professional pressures inherent in modeling.
