Monster Prince

Monster Prince, known in Japan as Kaibutsu-kun, was created by the legendary manga duo Fujiko Fujio—specifically Motoo Abiko under the pen name Fujiko Fujio A—and serialized beginning in 1965. The series emerged during a golden era of manga that blended supernatural themes with domestic comedy, focusing on the titular young prince of Monster Land who travels to the human world to learn about the complexities of living among people.

The character design reflects the mid-century influence of whimsical, monster-centric storytelling popular in Japanese youth magazines of the time. Sonoda Mitsuyoshi, an artist closely associated with the franchise's adaptations and spin-off interpretations, contributed significantly to the visual longevity of the series.
