Moto Saikyou Ansatsusha wa Inaka de Hissori Shinpu ni Naru ~Dai-shusse Shita Oshiego-tachi ni Shitawareu Ossan ga An'yakusuru Hanashi~

Moto Saikyou Ansatsusha wa Inaka de Hissori Shinpu ni Naru originated as a light novel series written by Arklight, which was subsequently adapted into a manga series illustrated by Fish Suzuki. Published in the context of the popular Isekai and 'retired hero' subgenres of Japanese web fiction, the narrative follows a legendary assassin who retires to a rural village to live as a humble priest, only to find himself dealing with his former students who have ascended to positions of great power.

The manga adaptation by Fish Suzuki translates the light novel's blend of slice-of-life pastoral tranquility and high-stakes political intrigue into a visual medium. Suzuki's character designs focus on contrasting the protagonist's unassuming, older appearance with the polished, authoritative status of the characters he once mentored. The series has been received as a character-driven work that leans into the comedy of errors stemming from the protagonist's attempts to maintain a quiet life despite his reputation.
