Where it came from
My Zombie Running Journal: Out Run Them (and Your Friends!) in a Zombie Apocalypse was published by Fun Zombie Print Press as part of a niche trend in self-published stationery designed to gamify fitness. Released in the late 2010s, this item emerged during a period when themed activity trackers became popular as a means to encourage engagement with exercise routines through humor and lighthearted narrative framing.
The design of the journal centers on the concept of 'zombie survival' as a metaphor for endurance training. By providing structured spaces to record running times and distances within a post-apocalyptic narrative context, the journal attempts to turn mundane aerobic tracking into a role-playing experience. It reflects a shift in independent publishing where specialized notebooks are curated for specific subcultures, in this case combining the practical needs of runners with the enduring cultural fascination with zombie fiction.
