National union catalog: a cumulative author list representing Library of Congress printed cards and titles reported by other American libraries. Supplement. - Ford, Daniel-Frankfurt Am Main. Israelitische

The National Union Catalog (NUC) served as an essential bibliographic tool for librarians and researchers throughout the 20th century. This specific volume belongs to the extensive supplementary series designed to consolidate Library of Congress records with entries reported by other North American research institutions, ensuring a comprehensive index of published works that would otherwise be difficult to track across disparate library systems.

The editorial work was spearheaded by the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and later published through professional academic presses like Mansell Information/Publishing. The design prioritized utility and systematic classification, adhering to rigorous cataloging standards to assist in interlibrary loans and collection development. While highly technical in nature, these volumes were fundamental to the infrastructure of global information science and were standard fixtures in major university and public research libraries.
