Nice to Meet You! The Pure-Hearted Fellow

Nice to Meet You! The Pure-Hearted Fellow is an early work by the renowned mangaka Nobuyuki Fukumoto, best known for his later mastery of high-stakes gambling manga like Kaiji. Produced during the early stages of his career, this volume reflects a shift away from his more cynical, tension-filled narratives toward a more grounded, episodic approach. The work serves as a window into the author's formative style and his ability to characterize individuals struggling through everyday moral and social dilemmas.

The design and narrative tone of the volume prioritize human vulnerability and the awkward nature of social interaction. Fukumoto employs his signature sharp, angular artistic style to underscore the protagonist's earnest nature against a backdrop of societal friction. While it lacks the extreme psychological battles of his later hits, it remains a significant touchstone for collectors interested in the evolution of Fukumoto's draftsmanship and his thematic focus on the human condition.
