Ninkū

Set in a post-war fantasy world, the story follows Fūsuke, a young boy who masters a unique martial art known as Ninkū, which blends ninjutsu with elemental powers. The series emerged during the height of the 1990s battle manga boom, offering a distinct aesthetic that leaned into unconventional character designs and a lighter, more whimsical tone compared to the darker action series popular at the time.

Kiriyama Kouji’s art style is noted for its fluid, rounded character designs and dynamic layouts that emphasize the kinetic nature of the Ninkū combat techniques. The manga gained enough popularity to warrant an anime adaptation by Studio Pierrot, which further solidified its place in 1990s pop culture.
