Nuova guida della città di Milano e sobborghi ideata e compilata da G. Savallo

The Nuova guida della città di Milano e sobborghi was compiled and conceptualized by G. Savallo during the mid-19th century, a period characterized by an increasing interest in urban modernization and the burgeoning field of travel literature. Created to serve as a comprehensive navigational tool for residents and visitors alike, the guide reflects the meticulous approach to geography and social topography that typified Italian urban planning and documentation of the Risorgimento era.

Savallo’s work is noted for its structured presentation of Milan’s layout, encompassing both the city center and its surrounding suburban districts. The design of the volume emphasizes clarity and utility, aiming to provide a functional snapshot of the city's infrastructure and notable landmarks. While specific aesthetic influences for the original print are understated, the volume is widely regarded by historians for its preservation of the municipal details and social organization of 19th-century Milan.
