Office Tsutome no Marie Antoinette

Office Tsutome no Marie Antoinette, created by the mangaka known as Inokoza, is a satirical manga series that explores the comedic juxtaposition of the 18th-century French monarch Marie Antoinette placed within the mundane, high-pressure environment of a modern Japanese corporate office. The series was born out of the lighthearted subversion of historical tropes, imagining how the queen's legendary extravagance and naivety would translate to the realities of workplace hierarchy, deadlines, and social etiquette.

The character design relies on the stark visual contrast between Marie Antoinette’s iconic, flamboyant rococo attire and the muted, functional aesthetic of a contemporary business uniform. Inokoza’s artistic approach emphasizes expressive, exaggerated reactions to office situations that would typically be trivial to a modern employee but overwhelming to an aristocrat accustomed to the opulence of Versailles. The work has been received as a clever, whimsical take on the 'isekai' or 'fish-out-of-water' genre, finding favor among readers who appreciate historical parody filtered through the lens of modern salaryman culture.
