Ontario. Canada. Department of Agriculture. Annual Report: 1904/2

The 1904 Annual Report of the Ontario Department of Agriculture was produced during a formative era for Canadian agrarian policy. At the turn of the 20th century, the provincial government utilized these reports to document the rapid expansion of agricultural education and industrial modernization. This volume serves as an institutional record of official policies, statistical surveys, and the operational activities of the department as it sought to standardize farming practices across the province.

The publication follows the formal reporting standards of the era, characterized by a utilitarian aesthetic common to government administrative documents. It was compiled by departmental clerks and civil servants under the direction of the Minister of Agriculture, reflecting a bureaucratic focus on clarity and record-keeping rather than decorative design. While not intended as a mass-market trade publication, these reports were widely distributed to legislative libraries, agricultural societies, and academic institutions to ensure transparency and accountability in provincial governance.
