Where it came from
Ookami Nanka Kowakunai!? was serialized in the shojo magazine Sho-Comi starting in 2005. As one of Go Ikeyamada's earlier long-running works, it follows the characteristic style of the genre during that period, focusing on high-tension romantic dynamics within a school setting. The narrative centers on a protagonist caught in a complex love triangle, reflecting the author's signature focus on emotional melodrama and rapid plot progression.
The character design and visual execution prioritize the expressive, wide-eyed aesthetic common to Sho-Comi titles of the mid-2000s. Ikeyamada’s art style during this era was specifically tailored to emphasize the intensity of her characters' reactions and the romantic conflict inherent to the plot. While the series played a role in cementing Ikeyamada’s career as a prominent shojo artist, it is representative of the era's commercial manga output rather than a break from established genre conventions.
