Where it came from
Osoroshii Ningen: Ningyo to Otokonoko no Ohanashi is a self-published work by the artist Nekozaki Kee, released within the niche ecosystem of independent Japanese dōjinshi. Created as an exploration of dark fantasy themes, the title focuses on unconventional character dynamics and psychological tension, reflecting the creator's penchant for atmospheric storytelling that deviates from mainstream shōnen or shōjo tropes.
The aesthetic of this volume is defined by Nekozaki Kee’s distinctive illustration style, which emphasizes surreal character designs and a moody, unsettling visual language. As an indie publication, its circulation was largely confined to specialized dōjinshi conventions and select independent retailers, where it gained a modest but dedicated following among enthusiasts of experimental manga who appreciate the author's ability to blend folklore motifs with intimate, often distressing, human narratives.
