Ouja no Bankuruwase ~Net Shougi no Teiou, Real Taikai de Choujou o Mezasu~

Ouja no Bankuruwase ~Net Shougi no Teiou, Real Taikai de Choujou o Mezasu~ is a light novel series authored by Iirenren, falling into the popular subgenre of stories centered on competitive shogi. It chronicles the journey of a protagonist who transitions from the anonymous, intense world of online shogi to the high-stakes environment of professional, in-person tournaments. The narrative serves as a focused exploration of the psychological pressures inherent in both digital and physical board game mastery.

The work emerged during a period of sustained interest in shogi-themed media within Japan, often drawing inspiration from the real-world rise of professional players who gained notoriety through internet play. Iirenren’s writing emphasizes the technical aspects of the game while grounding the character development in the social transition from the keyboard to the shogi board, aiming to bridge the gap between casual online gaming and formal, traditional competition.
