Plague Rat

Plague Rat emerged from the indie manga circuit during a period of heightened interest in dark, allegorical storytelling. Created by the artist known as RabbitDance, the work was designed to explore themes of urban decay and social isolation through a gritty, monochromatic visual style. The narrative follows the protagonist through an increasingly surreal landscape, reflecting the creator's intent to subvert traditional shonen tropes by focusing on atmospheric dread rather than heroic action.

Upon its initial publication, the volume was received as a polarizing but technically impressive entry in the underground scene. Critics noted RabbitDance's deliberate use of negative space and heavy ink work, which helped establish a distinct aesthetic identity for the series. It has since gained a modest following among collectors who favor experimental storytelling and the raw, unpolished quality of early independent manga production.
