Where it came from
Plastic Memories: Say to good-bye is a manga adaptation derived from the 2015 original anime series Plastic Memories, which centers on the emotional challenges of working with Giftias, androids possessing human-like emotions and finite lifespans. This print volume, illustrated by Yuuyuu, was commissioned to expand the narrative landscape of the series, offering fans an alternative medium to explore the poignant themes of memory and impermanence that defined the anime's core story.
The artistic direction for this volume focuses on capturing the melancholic, character-driven aesthetic of the series. Yuuyuu’s illustrative style remains faithful to the character designs of the source material while emphasizing the intimate, interpersonal dynamics between the protagonist and his partner. Upon its release, it was received as a complementary piece for audiences seeking further closure and depth regarding the narrative arc of the Giftias, fitting neatly into the broader collection of merchandise associated with the franchise.
