Plunderer

Plunderer is a manga series created by the Japanese artist Minazuki Suu, who is perhaps best known for his previous success with the series Heaven's Lost Property. Serialization began in Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine in December 2014. The narrative is set in a post-apocalyptic world governed by the 'Count,' a system where individuals are marked by numbers that dictate their social standing and dictate their survival through an inherent social hierarchy.

Minazuki designed the series to blend high-stakes fantasy adventure with complex character motivations and sudden tonal shifts, a hallmark of his storytelling style. The visual design emphasizes detailed action sequences contrasted with the stark, often dystopian environments of the world of Althea. Upon release, the series garnered a dedicated following for its world-building and eventual transition into an anime adaptation, which further solidified its place in the modern shōnen landscape.
