Where it came from
Predator: Origin is a Japanese manga adaptation published as part of the broader Predator media franchise. It was produced to translate the iconic cinematic science fiction elements of the 1987 film into the distinct visual language of manga. The series serves as an expansion of the lore, focusing on the cultural and biological history of the extraterrestrial hunter species.
The artwork by Mita emphasizes high-contrast, kinetic action sequences typical of seinen manga, aiming to capture the tension of the original horror-thriller source material. The title was received primarily by genre enthusiasts, acting as a bridge between Western film canon and the specific aesthetic sensibilities of Japanese dark fantasy and sci-fi illustration.
