Princess's Helmet Mohiro Kitoh Short Stories 1987-2022

Princess's Helmet is a comprehensive anthology collecting short stories penned by Mohiro Kitoh, an artist widely recognized for his distinctively melancholic and philosophically heavy approach to the seinen manga genre. Published to compile work spanning thirty-five years, the volume serves as a career retrospective that highlights Kitoh's evolution from his early efforts in the late 1980s through the mature, often unsettling storytelling that defined his later acclaim in series like Bokurano and Narutaru.

The collection showcases Kitoh's recurring fascination with the intersection of childhood innocence and brutal, existential reality. His design choices—often characterized by deceptively simple character art juxtaposed against grim, complex narrative themes—are fully on display here. The volume was received by his dedicated readership as an essential look into the formative experimental phases of a creator who consistently challenges the conventions of typical manga tropes by focusing on the raw psychological weight of his protagonists.
