Private Privilege

Private Privilege, authored by Simon Astaire, emerged as a notable exploration of contemporary British social dynamics and the complexities of public versus private life. Published in the early 2010s, the novel reflects Astaire’s background as a public relations professional, providing a narrative lens through which to examine the often pressurized world of media management and high-stakes reputation maintenance. It sits within a tradition of satirical yet grounded fiction that scrutinizes the intersection of personal integrity and professional obligation.

The design and narrative structure of the work were conceived to offer an immersive, behind-the-scenes look at the mechanisms of celebrity and influence. Astaire crafted the text to resonate with readers interested in the psychological cost of maintaining a public facade, drawing on his own career observations to build a world that feels both authentic and cautionary. Upon its release, the book was recognized for its sharp dialogue and its ability to dissect the performative aspects of modern high-society existence.
