Programm des Städtischen Gymnasiums mit Realabteilung und Vorschule zu Greiz: 1889/90

The Programm des Städtischen Gymnasiums mit Realabteilung und Vorschule zu Greiz for the academic year 1889/90 was published as part of a long-standing German academic tradition. During the late 19th century, gymnasiums across the German Empire were required to publish annual reports, known as Schulprogramme, which served as both administrative records and scholarly vehicles. These documents typically contained a list of staff, school regulations, and the results of student examinations, often accompanied by a specialized academic essay written by a faculty member.

The 1889/90 edition from the Greiz institution reflects the educational rigor of the era, focusing on the classical and scientific curriculum common in late Prussian and Thuringian secondary schooling. These volumes were printed by local publishers under the authority of the school director, intended primarily for distribution to educational boards, parents, and peer institutions to demonstrate the school's intellectual vitality and adherence to state pedagogical standards. They remain valuable historical records for understanding the localized academic history of the Greiz region.
