Where it came from
She Is Just Like a Pet is a fan-made doujinshi created by the artist Nekotoufu, centering on characters from the seminal 2011 anime series Puella Magi Magica. Produced within the vibrant independent manga scene, this work serves as an unofficial derivative publication, reflecting the deep engagement of Japanese fan circles with the dark, subverted tropes of the magical girl genre established by the original studio production.
Nekotoufu is well-regarded in the doujin community for a distinct artistic style that often leans into comedic or lighthearted interpretations of darker source material. In this volume, the creator explores character dynamics through a parody lens, a common practice in the Comiket-driven subculture where fan artists expand upon established narratives. The work is recognized by collectors as an example of the expansive, community-led creative output that followed the immediate cultural impact of the series.
