Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie -Rebellion-, Vol. 3

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie -Rebellion- is the third installment in the cinematic expansion of the popular magical girl franchise. This manga adaptation, published by Yen Press, was released to coincide with the film's international appeal, allowing fans to revisit the surreal narrative and striking character designs of the Magica Quartet collective in a static, serialized format. The series is celebrated for subverting traditional genre tropes, moving away from optimistic archetypes to explore darker, philosophical themes of entropy and emotional sacrifice.

The visual language of the series remains faithful to the film's aesthetic, which blends traditional animation with avant-garde collage work to represent the labyrinthine worlds of the Witches. By condensing the complex, multi-layered plot of the film into a three-volume set, the manga serves as both a souvenir for established devotees and an accessible point of entry for new readers. Its reception has been largely positive, praised for effectively capturing the psychological tension of the original screenplay through meticulous panel composition and character consistency.
