Raul to Kyuuketsuki

Raul to Kyuuketsuki, or 'Raul and the Vampire,' is a manga series created by the artist Sonoguchi Ataru. Published in the mid-2000s, it belongs to the niche of early-2000s seinen and shonen genre explorations that often blended dark fantasy elements with grounded human interaction. The narrative centers on the unusual dynamic between the titular characters, utilizing a visual style that captures the moody, atmospheric aesthetic common to the era's character-driven supernatural manga.

The series reflects the experimental spirit of the manga magazines of its time, where authors were encouraged to explore unconventional pairings and gothic-inspired storytelling. Sonoguchi Ataru’s work on the series is noted for a distinctive character design that balances sharp, clean lines with the dramatic shadows inherent in the vampire genre. While it remains a cult title within the broader landscape of Japanese manga, it is frequently cited by collectors of 2000s-era supernatural fiction for its unique tonal shifts and narrative commitment to its central relationship.
