Where it came from
Reijima Dream Story was crafted by the esteemed artist and animator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, known widely for his pivotal role in the design and character animation of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Emerging from his transition from animation toward full-time manga authorship, this work reflects his signature illustrative style—characterized by fluid, expressive line work and a mastery of cinematic pacing that stems from his extensive background in the film industry.
The narrative belongs to a period in Yasuhiko’s career where he sought to explore complex themes of identity and historical memory through a more personal, dreamlike lens. While less commercially ubiquitous than his major space-opera sagas, the work was received by critics as a sophisticated exploration of the author's technical versatility. It stands as a testament to his ability to blend traditional manga storytelling with the aesthetic sensibilities of a seasoned animation director.
