Rune Worth: Hoshi no Yuusha

Rune Worth: Hoshi no Yuusha is a manga adaptation based on the Rune Worth tabletop role-playing game system, a Japanese fantasy TTRPG originally developed by Group SNE. Published in the late 1990s during a period of rising interest in domestic fantasy settings, this volume reflects the era's trend of bridging the gap between pen-and-paper gaming modules and serialized manga storytelling. It served as a narrative expansion intended to introduce tabletop mechanics and lore to a broader comics-reading audience.

The series was illustrated by Mukai Natsumi, an artist recognized for a clean, expressive style that defined the aesthetic of several light novel and game-based adaptations of the time. Mukai sought to capture the high-fantasy spirit of the Rune Worth world while maintaining the character-driven appeal necessary for a successful shonen-style manga. Upon its release, the volume was received primarily by the existing gaming community as a nostalgic companion piece that provided visual context to the complex world-building of the source material.
