Where it came from
Ryuu no Mukosagashi, or Searching for the Other Side of the Dragon, is a manga series created by the artist Shimada Hachi. Emerging within the landscape of contemporary seinen manga, the work is noted for its ethereal aesthetic and deliberate pacing, characteristic of Hachi’s approach to atmospheric storytelling. It was produced as a vehicle for exploring themes of folklore and internal discovery, centering on a journey through a world where myth and reality intersect.
The design and illustration style reflects a minimalist yet intricate visual language, with Hachi focusing on negative space and character expression to ground the series' surreal elements. Upon its release, it was well-received by readers who gravitate toward contemplative fantasy, earning quiet acclaim for its consistent art direction and the author's ability to maintain a meditative tone throughout the series' development.
