Ryuujin Bodyguard to Ojousama

Ryuujin Bodyguard to Ojousama is a manga series created by the artist known as Fayuse, emerging from the digital landscape of self-published web-manga and online platforms. It belongs to a genre of character-driven comedy and supernatural fiction, centering on the protective and often surreal dynamic between a powerful Ryuujin—a dragon deity—and a young woman. The narrative serves as a subversion of the bodyguard trope, blending traditional folklore elements with modern social dynamics.

The aesthetic of the series is defined by Fayuse's clean line work and expressive character designs, which prioritize the emotional stakes of the relationship over elaborate action sequences. By focusing on the interplay between the stoic, protective nature of the dragon and the vulnerabilities of the protagonist, the work attempts to explore themes of companionship and hidden identity. It has been well-regarded within digital manga circles for its consistent pacing and the artist's ability to balance quiet, character-focused moments with the fantastical premise.
