Seishun wa Hentai

Seishun wa Hentai is a manga series authored by Yamamoto Chuugaku, released in the early 2000s during a period when the seinen magazine landscape was increasingly exploring experimental and transgressive narratives. The work is characterized by its subversion of coming-of-age tropes, blending absurdist humor with themes that challenge conventional social boundaries and adolescent anxieties. It emerged as a cult title within the seinen demographic, noted for its distinct stylistic departure from mainstream romantic comedies of the era.

The design and visual narrative of the series reflect Yamamoto Chuugaku's signature aesthetic, which often employs gritty, unrefined linework to contrast with the chaotic and often surreal scenarios depicted. The author aimed to capture a raw, unflinching perspective on youth that defied the polished veneer common in contemporary serializations. While the series was polarizing due to its provocative subject matter, it received critical acknowledgement from niche audiences who valued the artist’s commitment to an uncompromising and unconventional storytelling approach.
