Where it came from
The Sengoku Basara X Official Comic Anthology was published in the late 2000s, emerging during the peak popularity of Capcom’s Sengoku Basara franchise. As a tie-in to the fighting game Sengoku Basara X, this volume served to expand upon the stylized, hyper-dramatized interpretations of feudal Japanese warlords that defined the series, providing fans with varied artistic takes and lighthearted side stories that complemented the intense action of the base game.
The collection follows the tradition of Japanese anthology releases, featuring contributions from a variety of independent manga artists rather than a single author. These anthologies were commissioned by publishers to capitalize on the fervent fan community surrounding the franchise, offering a platform for artists to explore comedic or unconventional scenarios involving characters like Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura, which were well-received by devotees looking for character-driven content outside the core gaming experience.
