Sensei Nisshi: Homura-sensei wa Tabun Motenai

Sensei Nisshi: Homura-sensei wa Tabun Motenai, written and illustrated by Sekaneko, originated as a self-published social media comic depicting the daily life and frustrations of a high school teacher. The series gained significant traction on platforms like Twitter, where its relatable portrayal of a teacher struggling to balance work life with a longing for romance resonated with a broad audience. It was eventually compiled into print volumes to capture the growing demand for the lighthearted, episodic format.

The design of the series centers on the character Homura-sensei, whose comedic misfortune and earnest personality drive the narrative. Sekaneko’s clean, expressive art style emphasizes character reactions and situational humor, aiming to capture the mundane yet often chaotic atmosphere of a school environment. Upon its physical release, the manga was well-received for its gentle, observational comedy, standing out in a crowded market of slice-of-life school series through its specific focus on the professional and personal predicaments of an educator.
