Sharehouse Nile

Sharehouse Nile is a manga series created by mangaka Nakamichi Hiroo, first serialized in the late 2010s. The work belongs to the slice-of-life genre, focusing on the interpersonal dynamics and everyday experiences of a group of residents living together in a communal housing arrangement. It is characteristic of contemporary Japanese seinen manga, which often explores urban isolation and the search for connection within modern communal living spaces.

Nakamichi Hiroo’s design and illustration style for the series emphasizes soft, expressive character work and detailed domestic settings that ground the narrative in a relatable reality. The series was developed during a period of increasing cultural interest in sharehouse living as both a lifestyle choice and a response to economic shifts in metropolitan Japan. It was generally received as a thoughtful exploration of adult friendships and the nuances of non-traditional living.
