Side Characters Deserve Love Too

Side Characters Deserve Love Too is a South Korean webtoon written and illustrated by Dandi. Emerging from the popular trend of the 'isekai' or 'transmigration' subgenre, the story subverts typical romance tropes by following a protagonist who finds herself reincarnated into a minor role within a novel she once read. The series is part of a broader movement in manhwa where narratives focus on characters who previously occupied the periphery of the main plot, allowing for a meta-commentary on narrative structure and genre expectations.

The art style is characteristic of modern digital manhwa, emphasizing vibrant character designs and expressive, emotionally charged panels that highlight the protagonist's attempts to secure a peaceful life away from the high-stakes drama of the original story's leads. Upon its serialized release, the work was well-received by readers for its lighthearted humor and relatable approach to the burdens of secondary roles, contributing significantly to the popularity of the subgenre on digital platforms.
