Sink Deeply and Quietly!! "Oh Glory, Love, Justice, Peace and Liberty, Those who Died in Battle."

Sink Deeply and Quietly!! 'Oh Glory, Love, Justice, Peace and Liberty, Those who Died in Battle' is an experimental work by the Japanese artist Oono Yasuyuki. Published in the early 1990s, the collection reflects the artist's unconventional approach to manga, utilizing a distinctive, raw visual style that deviates sharply from mainstream shonen or shojo aesthetics. The work emerged from the independent, alternative manga scene in Japan, which often prioritized personal expression and philosophical inquiry over traditional narrative structures.

The title and content of this volume suggest a deep preoccupation with themes of mortality, historical trauma, and the pursuit of abstract ideals. Oono’s design choices, characterized by heavy ink work and sparse, haunting compositions, were intended to evoke a somber, meditative atmosphere. While the work remains relatively obscure within the broader global manga market, it is frequently cited by collectors of avant-garde and gekiga-style literature as a poignant example of the medium's capacity for experimental storytelling.
