Stray Souls

Stray Souls is a manga series created by the artist known as MAF, emerging from the vibrant landscape of early 21st-century independent and serialized graphic fiction. It was crafted to explore themes of spiritual wandering and existential conflict, drawing heavily on stylized character designs that emphasize emotive, fluid linework. The series was developed as a creative endeavor to blend dark fantasy aesthetics with the introspective pacing often found in character-driven narratives.

The design of the work reflects a deliberate shift toward atmospheric storytelling, with MAF utilizing minimalist backgrounds to focus the reader’s attention on the internal turbulence of the protagonists. Upon its release, the volume was noted within niche manga circles for its distinctive visual identity, which stood out amidst the more conventional styles prevalent in mainstream publications at the time. It remains a representative example of how independent creators utilized the serialized format to experiment with visual tone and psychological depth.
