Where it came from
Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta, known in English as The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses, began as a web manga series authored and illustrated by Fujichika Koume. First appearing on Twitter in 2018, the series quickly gained a dedicated following due to its charming premise involving a middle school boy, Kaede Komura, and his crush, Mie-san, who frequently forgets her glasses. The narrative relies on a minimalist, soft-focused aesthetic that captures the fleeting, awkward moments of young romance, with the manga eventually being serialized in Monthly Gangan Joker.
The fan-colored volumes of the series represent a unique intersection of community enthusiasm and digital art practice. As the series grew in popularity, various fan groups and colorists took to digital platforms to color the original black-and-white panels, aiming to capture the series' bright, sentimental atmosphere. While not official studio products, these digital fan-colored compilations demonstrate the deep resonance of Fujichika’s character designs and the warmth of the story's visual storytelling within the global manga community.
