Where it came from
Sunny Side Skies is a self-published independent manga volume created by the artist known as soaporsalad. Emerging from the digital art community, the work was conceptualized as a slice-of-life narrative that explores themes of nostalgia and quiet introspection, characterized by a soft, minimalist aesthetic that leans heavily into atmospheric world-building rather than traditional high-octane plot arcs.
The volume serves as a showcase for the artist's signature watercolor-inspired digital rendering style, which emphasizes light and color to evoke specific moods. Upon its release, it was well-received within niche illustration circles and independent book fairs for its gentle pacing and technical precision, cementing its reputation as a meditative example of modern indie manga design.
