Sunoharasou no Kanrinin-san

Sunoharasou no Kanrinin-san began as a manga series written and illustrated by the artist known as Nekoume, first serialized in Ichijinsha's Manga 4-koma Palette magazine starting in 2014. The series centers on the protagonist Aki Shiina, a young boy who moves to Tokyo to gain independence and finds himself living in a boarding house run by the nurturing and beautiful Ayaka Sunohara. It fits squarely within the slice-of-life and comedy genres, focusing on the domestic dynamics and lighthearted interactions between the residents.

The character designs were crafted by Nekoume to emphasize a soft, approachable aesthetic typical of late-2010s manga, balancing comedic trope-heavy situations with a wholesome visual tone. The series saw enough success to warrant an anime adaptation produced by Silver Link in 2018. Upon release, the property was generally received as a comfortable, low-stakes entry in the 'house-mother' subgenre of anime and manga, recognized primarily for its gentle pacing and the character-driven chemistry between the residents of Sunohara House.
