Tantei Higurashi Tabito no Sagashimono

Tantei Higurashi Tabito no Sagashimono, written by Kouzaburou Yamaguchi and illustrated by fumisaka, debuted as the inaugural volume of a light novel series that explores the unique perspective of a protagonist with impaired senses. The series is centered on Tabito Higurashi, a private investigator who has lost four of his five senses, leaving him with only his sight as a way to interpret the world. The narrative tone blends mystery with emotional character studies, focusing on the sensory-driven intuition Tabito uses to navigate his surroundings and solve cases.

The character design and atmospheric prose were intentionally crafted to contrast the clinical nature of investigative work with the subjective experience of living with sensory disabilities. Upon its release, the series gained recognition within the Japanese light novel market for its distinctive premise, eventually inspiring both a manga adaptation and a live-action television drama. The success of this first volume established the series' reputation for balancing introspective storytelling with the tropes of a traditional mystery procedural.
