Where it came from
Tensai Family Company was serialized by Ninomiya Tomoko, the acclaimed mangaka best known for Nodame Cantabile. Published in the late 1990s, the series centers on the eccentric and chaotic lives of a highly gifted, unconventional family unit. It reflects Ninomiya's signature blend of offbeat humor and character-driven narrative, exploring the dynamics of talent and interpersonal friction within a domestic setting.
The design of the series highlights Ninomiya's distinctive, expressive art style, which emphasizes comedic timing and the internal emotional landscape of her characters. Upon its release, the manga was well-received by readers who appreciated its lighthearted approach to family life and its departure from more rigid genre conventions, establishing a precursor to the thematic depth she would later explore in her more famous works.
