Where it came from
Tetsuman is a specialized manga publication that emerged from the expansion of the Tekken franchise, produced by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment. It was created to provide narrative depth and visual flair to the world of the King of Iron Fist Tournament, bridging the gap between the complex character backstories established in the video games and the burgeoning appetite for expanded media in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The publication reflects the dynamic aesthetic of the era’s arcade culture, characterized by high-octane action sequences and stylized character designs synonymous with the Tekken series. The editorial focus was on translating the rhythmic, technical nature of the fighting game genre into the sequential art medium, serving as a promotional and commemorative artifact for fans interested in the peripheral lore of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines.
