The Best Professional Wrestling Fans

The Best Professional Wrestling Fans is a manga series created by Yasuyuki Tokumitsu, a mangaka well-regarded for his niche, documentary-style focus on the professional wrestling subculture. The work emerged from a period in Japanese manga where creators were increasingly exploring hyper-specific fandoms, moving beyond the traditional combat-focused narratives of wrestling to document the idiosyncratic behavior and intense passion of the spectators themselves.

Tokumitsu’s design and illustrative style in this series prioritize a sense of gritty, observational realism, capturing the raw energy of the audience rather than the stylized action of the ring. By focusing on the fans as the central protagonists, he aimed to translate the communal experience of live wrestling into a sequential medium. The series was received as a respectful, if slightly eccentric, tribute to the grassroots wrestling scene and remains a cult interest for those documenting the intersection of sports culture and fandom history.
