Where it came from
The Boys of Summer, authored by the artist known as Bakha, emerged within the vibrant landscape of South Korean webtoons during a period of increasing international interest in the boys' love (BL) genre. The narrative explores themes of youth, nostalgia, and romantic tension, reflecting a broader trend in web literature that emphasizes atmospheric storytelling and character-driven emotional arcs.
The design of the work is characterized by the soft, expressive art style common in contemporary manhwa, designed to highlight the internal lives of its protagonists. Upon its release, it was received as a significant entry in the digital serialization format, noted for its consistent visual pacing and its ability to cultivate a dedicated readership within online platforms dedicated to serialized episodic content.
