Where it came from
The Doraemons Game Comic series emerged in the mid-1990s as a spin-off from the enduringly popular Doraemon franchise. Designed to capitalize on the success of the Doraemons, a group of robotic cat characters from different international backgrounds, these volumes were created to function as a bridge between traditional manga storytelling and the popular video games of the era. The books typically featured game-inspired narratives that placed the characters in adventure-filled scenarios mimicking digital playstyles.
While Fujiko F. Fujio is credited as the progenitor of the Doraemon universe, the specific game comic spin-offs were produced under his oversight by various studio artists to expand the franchise's commercial reach. The series was well-received by younger audiences, successfully leveraging the established charm of the original characters while adapting them into a format that felt dynamic and interactive, reflecting the shift toward gaming culture in Japanese children's media during that decade.
