Where it came from
The Dragon That Lost Its Eggs Started Raising Me for Some Reason! is a Japanese light novel series written by Kirisaki Suzume. It emerged during the late 2010s amidst a surge in popularity for the 'isekai' and fantasy subgenres that focus on unconventional family dynamics and heartwarming monster-human relationships, rather than traditional combat-oriented adventure tropes.
The series design and narrative trajectory focus on the gentle, comedic, and domestic interactions between a human boy and his adoptive dragon parent. The work was initially published as a web novel on the platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō before being picked up for physical print serialization, reflecting the common industry transition where reader-driven online acclaim determines the success and publishing path of character-led fantasy titles.
