The Metabaron

The Metabaron series serves as an expansive continuation of the mythology established in Alejandro Jodorowsky and Juan Giménez’s seminal sci-fi work, The Incal. Conceived to further explore the brutal, cyclical history of the Metabaron lineage, the series was launched under the Humanoids publishing house to maintain the prestige and visual density associated with the original universe. Jerry Frissen took on the role of writer, tasked with synthesizing the complex, often operatic lore of the past into a structured narrative format.

The visual identity of The Metabaron is defined by a rotating roster of high-caliber artists, including Valentin Sécher, Niko Henrichon, and Mukesh Singh. These illustrators were tasked with capturing the visceral, biomechanical aesthetic synonymous with the franchise while pushing the boundaries of contemporary digital painting and sequential storytelling. Upon its release, the series was recognized for its ambition, earning praise from critics for successfully expanding the scale of the original mythos while introducing modern stylistic techniques to the classic space opera genre.
