Where it came from
The Plan for Being Gods emerged from the burgeoning landscape of Chinese digital webcomics during the late 2010s, a period marked by the rapid professionalization and expansion of platforms like Kuaikan Manhua. Produced by the Jiang Guai Guai Studio, the work was crafted to meet the growing domestic demand for high-fantasy narratives that blend intricate world-building with contemporary character archetypes, aiming to capture a demographic interested in epic-scale storytelling.
The studio employed a polished digital illustration style characterized by high-contrast lighting and elaborate costume design, which was intended to emphasize the divine and otherworldly nature of its cast. Upon its serialized release, the series gained steady traction within its home market, recognized primarily for its visual ambition and its attempt to translate complex mythological themes into the fast-paced, episodic format favored by mobile readers.
