The Sound of Your Heart, or Ma-eum-ui Sori, originated as a long-running webtoon by the South Korean artist Jo Seok, debuting on the Naver Webtoon platform in 2006. Conceived as a slice-of-life comedy, the series centers on the absurd, surreal daily experiences of a young man named Jo Seok, his family, and his girlfriend, Aebong. The narrative is defined by its erratic, self-deprecating humor and exaggerated character designs, which quickly helped it become a cornerstone of the burgeoning South Korean webtoon industry.

Jo Seok designed the series to mirror his own life, though he consistently stylized the events into farce. Upon its release, the comic was praised for its consistent output and ability to reinvent its comedic tropes over more than a decade of serialization.
