The Westminster Review

The Westminster Review was established in 1824 in London as a quarterly publication intended to serve as the voice of the Philosophical Radicals, a group of thinkers led by Jeremy Bentham and James Mill. It was designed to provide a staunchly reformist and utilitarian counterweight to the conservative stance of the Edinburgh Review and the Quarterly Review. By championing liberal causes such as parliamentary reform, secular education, and the repeal of the Corn Laws, the journal quickly became a vital forum for radical intellectual discourse during the early 19th century.
