The Works Of Thomas Love Peacock: Maid Marian. Misfortunes Of Elphin. Crotchet Castle. Gryll Grange

Thomas Love Peacock, a contemporary and close friend of Percy Bysshe Shelley, authored these satirical novels during the early to mid-nineteenth century. This specific collection includes some of his most celebrated works, which were characterized by their intellectual wit, critique of contemporary philosophical trends, and comedic portrayals of rural life. Written as a series of social commentaries, they reflect the unique literary climate of the Regency and Victorian eras, where intellectual debate was often conducted through the medium of fictionalized dialogue and eccentric characters.

The 9781019695951 edition serves as a modern reprint of these historical texts, intended to preserve Peacock’s legacy for contemporary scholarship and literary enthusiasts. By grouping these specific titles together, the volume provides a comprehensive look at the author's later career, particularly his mastery of the satiric novel form. While the original editions were aimed at a learned, upper-middle-class audience during the nineteenth century, these reprints are designed to offer accessibility to students and collectors of classic British literature who value the preservation of historical prose.
